Subcommittee Schedules Hearing on VA Efforts to Combat Opioid Abuse


WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee will conduct a hearing Wednesday, Nov. 15, with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs officials to review the agency’s actions to prevent opioid overmedication.

Among the witnesses is Mr. Marvin Simcakoski of Stevens Point, Wis., the father of a veteran who overdosed under VA care and for whom the VA portion of the 21st Century Cures Act is named.
