Senator Collins’ Statement on President’s Rescissions Package Request
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins, Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, issued a statement on the President’s rescissions package request.
“The Congress has received from the Administration a $9.4 billion package of proposed rescissions of funding that had been previously approved for a wide range of foreign aid programs and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The Congress will have 45 days to act on the proposed rescissions package.
“Despite this fast track, the Senate Appropriations Committee will carefully review the rescissions package and examine the potential consequences of these rescissions on global health, national security, emergency communications in rural communities, and public radio and television stations.”
