Congressionally Directed Spending Requests

Chairman Leahy is committed to following the existing requirements for congressionally directed spending items in Rule XLIV of the Standing Rules of the Senate and is implementing new reforms that ensure greater transparency and accountability.  You can read more about those reforms here.

One of the Chairman’s reforms requires Senators to post their congressionally directed spending requests, as well as their financial certification disclosures attesting that neither they nor their immediate family have any financial interest in any of the items requested, to their official Senate websites.  These requests must be posted to the Senator’s website within 15 calendar days of the relevant subcommittee’s submission deadline.  This allows time for the Committee to ensure the requests were properly submitted.  Each subcommittee has a different deadline for congressionally directed spending requests, and these deadlines can be found here.

In an effort to facilitate public access and promote transparency, Chairman Leahy will be posting direct links to each Senators’ congressionally directed spending page below.  Once all requests are made, the Chairman will post a link to a consolidated table so that the public can access all requests made to the Committee in one place.  Questions regarding individual requests should be directed to the requesting office.

In alphabetical order, websites for each Senator’s requests are listed below:
