Vice Chairwoman Mikulski Statement on Passage of Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.), Vice Chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after the Senate passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016:

“As Vice Chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I set an ambitious goal for this year: cancel sequester and enact all 12 appropriations bills, free of poison pills, into law.  The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016, passed today by the House and Senate, meets that goal.

“Americans deserve a government on their side that works as hard as they do.  Today, Congress did its job and passed full year funding legislation to keep America safe, ensure promises made are promises kept to our veterans and seniors, improve our physical infrastructure, build an opportunity ladder for the middle class and meet compelling human needs. This bill is the result of months of working across the aisle and across the dome. I look forward to the President signing it into law.”
