WASHINGTON, DC -- The U.S. Senate has approved, by a vote of 97 to 2, H.R. 2055, the Fiscal Year 2012 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill. The legislation, which was reported out of the Full Committee by a 30-0 vote on June 30, funds the Department of Veterans Affairs and military construction and family housing projects, among other critical priorities.
Statement of Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Daniel K. Inouye:
"I am pleased that the Senate has passed its first Fiscal Year 2012 appropriations measure. I want to congratulate Chairman Johnson and Vice Chairman Kirk for working together in a bipartisan effort to move the FY 2012 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs bill through the Committee and the full Senate. The overwhelming support this legislation received demonstrates that we are capable of working together on the people's business. I hope we can build on that spirit of cooperation and bipartisanship as we move forward with the remainder of the FY 2012 appropriations process."
